In a proud moment for Indian medical excellence, Dr.Vivek Vaibhav (HoD, Anaesthesiologyat Rama Medical College)represented India at the prestigious International Health Congress Summitheld from 5th to 7th June at NH Villa Carpegna, Via Pio IV 6, Rome,Italy. Dr. Vaibhav presented a cutting-edge clinical case study titled: “ParavertebralBlock with Liposomal Bupivacaine for Enhanced Recovery in Open Thoracotomy.”
Open thoracotomy, a complex surgical procedure involving thechest cavity, often comes with significant post-operative pain and slowrecovery. Dr. Vaibhav’s innovative use of Liposomal Bupivacaine in a paravertebralnerve block showcased how targeted regional anaesthesia could revolutionizepain management protocols. His findings demonstrated reduced opioidconsumption, faster ambulation, and enhanced post-operativerecovery, offering a safer, more comfortable healing pathway for thoracicsurgery patients.
The presentation received widespread acclaim from globalpeers, reinforcing the relevance of regional anaesthesia techniques in modernsurgical care. Dr. Vaibhav’s work reflects a paradigm shift towards patient-centric,opioid-sparing approaches, in line with the best practices in enhancedrecovery protocols worldwide.
Beyond the science, his presence at the Rome Summit marks asignificant milestone in cross-border medical collaboration. It not onlyelevates India’s contributions to global anaesthesia standards but alsoinspires a new generation of clinicians to innovate and share knowledge beyondborders.
